Two Week Update

Kidney Bean's two week appointment was yesterday. She has passed her birth weight and is growing beautifully! She loves her hands and is a little wiggle worm. She will stretch and stretch all the day long! We wrap her up in a bundle to get her to sleep otherwise she plays with her hands and stays wide awake.
Tummy time is something of a regular occurrence. This girl loves being on her tummy! She sleeps best on her side or tummy. I am rather nervous about letting her sleep at night on her stomach, so she settles for her side most of the night. KB sleeps in bed with us, so monitoring her sleeping position is rather easy. Most nights she ends up sleeping in my arms cuddled next to me. I love waking up with her in my arms. It's an amazing feeling being a mom!
KB loves to nurse and has a 2-3 hour schedule that she sticks too depending on her mood and what I've eaten the day before. We have discovered that Peanut Butter isn't very kind to KB's stomach and thus out of my eating repertoire. I think shrimp might make that list as well. We'll see how today goes.
We have a great baby that doesn't feel the need to fuss that much unless Mama is giving her a sponge baths or changing her diaper. She doesn't mind so much when Papa changes the diaper though. I'm not sure why. Once her belly button heals up all the way we will try a regular bath and see if it's the sponge part she doesn't like. Hopefully that's the case. :)
Our baby sleeps very well once she goes to sleep. She is staying awake more and more. It is wonderful to see her eyes and watch her watch the world around her. The night schedule isn't that bad and with small naps during the day or sleeping in late, I am getting plenty of sleep. Mr.Llama is much better at taking naps than me, but I'm slowly learning.
The major stepping stone that I wasn't quite prepared for is that Kidney Bean rolls over. This is one of the last things I expected. The child is two weeks old! She has rolled over four times now while we have been watching. We are taking precautions and surround her with barriers whenever she is on the bed or couch. I'm not sure if I should be proud or concerned that my daughter can roll over this early.
Mr. Llama and I are excited proud parents and love our daughter endlessly. We plan to stick close to home and screen visitors for a while longer. This post would have had some pictures in it, but I'm still looking for the camera cord. Once it is found I will put some pictures up!

  1. I don't think you should be concerned that your child has hit a developmental milestone early as long as you do act like the good parents you are and make sure you don't leave her alone on the couch. :) I'm glad she's a super sleeper for you!
