Our darling precious Kidney Bean has arrived!!! Katherine Lynn Parmenter was born March 15, 2010 at 9.34am. She made quite an entrance into this world, completely on her own terms and in her own way. I am still in awe every time I look at our baby! She is the most beautiful wonderful girl and the quickness of the birth is still mind boggling.
Katie's Birth Story
Sunday, March 14. Approx 11.30pm
My water sprang a leak. A call to the midwife was made and orders were given to get some sleep since no contractions had started.
Monday, March 15.
2am: Contractions started, but nothing too serious. They were about an hour apart.
6am: Contractions moved to 20 minutes apart. A call to the midwife was made. Orders were given to get as much sleep as I could since I would probably be in labor all day and to call if anything changed.
7am: Called my mom (who lives 2 hours away) to come help me clean the house and get ready for Kidney Bean. I wasn't going to get any more sleep so I got up and took a shower. Mr. Llama started laundry and cleaning up the house.
8am: Contractions were coming closer and stronger, but nothing too bad.
8.30am: Called midwife. Contractions were around 5-7 minutes apart. Our midwife said she would head over shortly. Nothing indicated any reason for major hurry.
9am: Hard contraction hit with a major urge to push! I requested a bath. Mr. Llama helped me into the tub and indicated that maybe we should "check" things to see what our progress was. Another hard contraction hit, I reached down and said, "That's a head. Where's the midwife?" Mr. Llama immediately grabbed the phone and called our midwife. As he was asking where she was and to hurry, I felt Katie slip into my hands. Mr. Llama heard the kerplop of water and came to help me put Katie on my chest. I was in complete awe at our beautiful baby and rather in a trance as we waited for the midwife to arrive, which she promptly did 10 minutes later.
It was amazing to deliver our baby with just Mr. Llama and I. I wouldn't choose to do it solo again and now that we know I have babies really fast, the midwife will come after the first contraction. However, it was amazing! As soon as I felt Katie's head a complete calmness washed over me and there was no worry about anything. I knew that our baby was going to come out regardless of who was around or wasn't and that everything would be okay.
We are so thankful for the experience of having our precious baby and letting her make her entrance into the world, her own way. Angels attended us and I thank God for giving us a wonderful healthy daughter!!
AMAZING! That is A M A Z I N G!
