The Great Sickness

We have been dealing with the great sickness for the past week. I was blessed with the weaker strand and thus was the main caretaker for the other two sickies..... Not my cup of tea either way.

Dealing with a sick 3 yr old who thinks she is fine until she isn't is exhausting. Exhausting! The poor dear just wanted to be okay. She would cough so hard she threw up and then immediately say "I'm okay." I told her it is alright for her not to be okay and she can just be sick.... but she insisted she was okay. Sad and Exhausting!

Dealing with a very sick hubby is just sad. My hubby is in the category of the few when it comes to sick men. Most men I know are complete babies when they get sick... no judgement, but it's true. Mr Llama doesn't tell me when he is sick. He just deals with it and goes to work. He might sleep as soon as he gets home and be a tad grumpy, but mostly I have no clue that is sick. He doesn't complain. He doesn't change his schedule. He doesn't act sick.... This go around, he was sick! His fever wouldn't break and then wouldn't stay gone. His cough was painful, and so on. It was just sad. He finally went to the doctor (this never happens as well) and got some heavy medication to help with the bronchial infection he was diagnosed with. It's only been a day, but thus far he is feeling better.

The residual effect of this great sickness we have been dealing with is zero lung capacity. I was doing daily walks and yoga with no breathing problems before we all got sick. This morning I tried a low impact mile walk and about died from not breathing..... My lungs always take a long time to heal up after a cough and this time seems to be no different. It's annoying that I will get behind my workouts, but mostly it's annoying that I can't shovel the snow out of the driveway.

I'm thankful we are all finally getting over the great sickness that plagued our house and can now focus on more fun December activities!
