Hiking

KB and I enjoyed another great hike yesterday. We had a group of 5 mommies with a total of 9 children plus one dog. It was so wonderful to walk and talk and hang out with these amazing women and their fun children. KB hadn't seen one little friend for a while and they took the time to walk together holding hands down the trail. I wish I had brought my camera! It was very sweet!

We hiked down and up the trail to an open meadow where we rested and ate some lunch. The kids of course needed little resting and were up and exploring the area with the dog. The dog logged a chipmunk causing great encouragement from the kids. The chipmunk safely escaped any harm and the children tried to persuade the dog that the creature was no longer in the log with little success.

KB was tired on the way back, but refused to ride in the stroller causing us to have a slower walk back to the cars. That girl loves to walk and run no matter how exhausted she is! We had carpooled with another mom and 2 kids who gratefully kept KB awake until we could get home. She took a lovely refreshing nap in her own bed giving me time to make some dinner and read a book.

This hike was the last official planned group hike of the summer. Although there is talk of more hikes while kiddos are in school, I'm not sure how that will work with those of us who have young ones still at home.

I truly love these mountains and the people here. It has been refreshing to my soul to be up here with clean air and laid back lifestyles.
