As I mentioned before I am determined to have some baking success. Thus far I've mostly had failures.
1. Carrot cake- while it tasted okay, the texture was lacking the smoothness desired due to an unfortunate blender incident.
2.
Chocolate Lava Cake (crockpot style)- This was actually pretty good.
However the failure was that no one was around to eat it when it was
warm thus it went in the fridge overnight and warmed up the next day.
NOT something I'd recommend. It didn't reheat well at all and ended up
being mush.
3.
Chocolate Chip Cookies batch 1- Flatter than pancakes and a little
overcooked. I didn't make any adjustments for the high altitude and
really was disappointed in how these turned out.
4.
Katie's Birthday cake- Ultimate decorating fail. So bad I refused to
document it with a picture. The frosting actually turned out wonderful
(a first for this particular frosting), but everything else was
miserable.
5. Katie's birthday cupcakes- These weren't so bad. However the frosting batch for these was too runny and the texture was lacking.
6. Chocolate Chip Cookies batch 2- Much better improvement from batch #1, but still a little too flat for my liking. Grandpa JP really liked them since he prefers a flatter cookies, but still not up to my expectations.
7. Bread Batch 1- The goal was nice fluffy dinner rolls. The result was flat biscuits. I thought they tasted like yeast, but Mr. Llama and Grandpa JP really enjoyed them.
8. Bread Batch 2- These were a tad fluffier than batch #1, but still pretty flat. And they weren't as well liked as the first batch by the guys.
9. Sugar Cookies- Okay so these weren't a failure at all. These turned out perfectly. I made them into tiny round little mounds so I could decorate with grass like frosting and top with some chocolate eggs. Adorable they were and delicious tasting. My first success!
I really want to stop with the sugar cookies since they turned out so well, but I have a bowl of egg whites that really need to be used and I really want to make a meringue pie. We shall see how this goes..............
