We took a leap of faith this year and are doing public school.... at home. It's been two weeks now and although we have hit bumps and lumps, we are adjusting. I've been loving our science and PE lessons at the park. We are going to take advantage of the good weather for as long as it stays!
KB has an actual teacher she checks in with every week in a video chat. Her teacher actually lives within 30 miles of us, so we are looking forward to meeting up with her in person. There are field trips almost every month, but those all take place in the Denver area..... We will try and go to at least one of those as long as the weather is good. In the meantime I am trying to hook up with the local homeschool group. They supposedly meet once a week, but I have yet to actually make contact with the group.
Even though school has started, we are enjoying the remaining summer weather. We've been to several parks and looking forward to exploring some new spots... as soon as the fire/smoke lets up.
Oh yes, we have fire. The local gun range caught on fire and has thus far burned 600 acres, but no structures. Gotta be thankful for remote areas! Even though we are a mere seven miles from the fire, the winds are in our favor and there is no concern about it coming our way. So grateful for that!
I'm getting excited about all my fall projects! I've got some sewing, scrap-booking, card making and other stuff lined up! Not ready for the cold weather to come, but at least I'll have projects to do inside.
YAY, field trips in Denver!
